5. TUNA IS PULLED UP TO THE NET

After the release of the dolphins, the net is retrieved towards the vessel using a powerful hydraulic system. Once the tuna is closely aligned to the vessel, the net is pulled up with a sort of mechanical ladle called salabardo or landing net that can carry from 3 to 4 tons each time. From the moment the net is released until it is pulled back into the vessel, the fishing technician plays a very important role leading the whole maneuver where the entire crew is involved.
